Abstract: Nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) was known to be as intermediate product from the electrooxidation of ethanol using nickel composite electrode from the black substances that being produce at the end of the electrooxidation process From the results, a pure NiOOH was then prepared using Ni metal plate and the later was used to prepare the homemade NiOOH composite electrode for the electrooxidation of ethanol. Base on the electrooxidation time and acetic acid (main product) obtained, there was a very convincing results compared to nickel (Ni) composite electrode. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR) was used to analyze the product of ethanol oxidation.
